Volunteer in the Philippines

We are actively looking for volunteers to help with our work in the Aeta community and in our family home.

2026-2027 Volunteering Posts

Hi there! My name is Trisha and I make a living out of digital marketing (AI, social media, sales, digital funnels, etc).

Whether you are an English teacher, a yoga practitioner, or anything, we can help teach you how to succeed in your personal brand.

Like you, I started as a Workawayer, and I have traveled to 70+ countries, earning money through travel. I did this for 17 years.

After doing Workaway in over 15+ countries, I was featured on CNN, BBC, Lonely Planet, etc. Just Google my name ‘Trisha Velarmino’ or find me on Instagram.

My hope for this is that we can do an exchange where you can play with my son (in Spanish) and I will teach you everything about digital marketing and how to start your own business to keep traveling the world.

I will also connect you to many travel opportunities so you can earn a living.

What we are looking for:

  • A person who wants to earn a living from traveling or set-up his/her own personal brand.
  • Must be a native Spanish speaker and be great with playing with kids

The help we need

Simply play with our kid in Spanish. He understands Spanish completely but refuses to speak it (we are Mexicans but please contact me in English as my husband do not speak Spanish).

Set-up

We will dedicate 1 hour a day to your digital marketing training with us.

Volunteers needed

2 volunteers who will take 3.5 hour shifts per day (7:30 – 11:00 or 14:30 – 18:00), Tuesday to Saturday.

Days off

Sunday & Monday (you will still be provided with meals during your days off)

What you’ll get:

  • In-depth digital marketing training/course
  • Contacts to clients in the travel industry from all over the world (including big brands and hotels for projects)
  • Social Media, Photography and Videography Class
  • Branding Classes
  • Cultural exchange with the Aeta community (an indigenous tribe where we run a village school)
  • Super healthy meals (not your average meals! We love to cook)
  • Access to nature, outdoor activities and excursions with our family includeing pool & beach club access
  • Lasting friendships and connections with people who have traveled the world for 17 years (us!)

Accommodations & Meals

You will stay in a 2-BR house together with another volunteer. Each of you will have your own private bathroom and three meals a day.

For this experience to become worth it, as we do not want to be cheap with food, we charge a fee of $15 a day for 3 meals and a super comfortable accommodation with your own kitchen.

If you are a couple, the fee is $22/day for both of you.

Our home

We live in Subic Bay, Philippines. The nearest airport is Clark Airport but you can also land in Manila.

  • Love nature and the outdoors
  • Love quiet places
  • Looking to reset in nature
  • Looking to be physically active

Minimum requirement

We require 30 days so you can complete your digital media training with us and that our son will not change caregivers frequently.

Connection is important for us

We want to share our knowledge to a lot of travelers, and we also want to learn. If you are really good, we’d like to support you with the digital marketing training even after you finish volunteering with us.

Additional Perks

We travel a lot (outside the Philippines) during the summer for work. If these all works out, we’d love to bring you in our journeys around the world so you can help us care for our child and also learn from our work in the travel industry.

Just a few notes

  • June to September is rainy season but you’ll love our area since there’s a lot to do in nature even if it’s raining!
  • An interview is required since this is really a job for those who know how to connect with children and play.
  • We are sharing real skills that will help you earn money so we really love to know you through an interview.

BOOK INTERVIEW

My name is Trisha Velarmino, and I grew up in Subic Bay — land that once belonged to the Aeta peoples before it was taken during the American colonial period.

Growing up here, I saw firsthand how indigenous communities were displaced and how their children often lacked access to quality education.

That is why I founded Borderless Futures and Girls Not Moms: child-led education programs dedicated to the Aeta children.

Our mission is simple but powerful — to give these children the tools to thrive, not just academically, but in life. We design learning spaces that honor their culture, nurture curiosity, and build resilience.

They have a public school but the education is very poor. The Philippines is widely acknowledged to be in a severe education crisis.

We are monitoring the schooling of the girls for many years so this is not a one-time project. We work with them closely through the years!

“When we educate children, we break the cycle of poverty in just one generation.” – Desmond Tutu

Most donations that reach the Aeta communities are short‑term relief — sacks of rice, canned goods, and instant food.

While these help families survive in the moment, they often come at the cost of health and sustainability.

What the children truly need is not just temporary aid, but access to education that can break the cycle of poverty.

By investing in learning, we give Aeta kids the chance to build skills, preserve their culture, and create futures where they no longer depend on handouts, but thrive with dignity and opportunity.

What we are looking for:

  • Must be a native English speaker and be great with playing with kids
  • Can be a couple/pair
  • Can be a family with kids ages 8+

The help we need

Simply play with kids in English. They are young and still not in school (2-7 years old). We don’t need a lesson plan, a simple daily interaction helps them!

Volunteers needed

2 volunteers who will take 3.5 hour shifts per day (7:30 – 11:00 or 14:30 – 18:00), Tuesday to Saturday.

Days off

Sunday & Monday (you will still be provided with meals during your days off)

What you’ll get:

  • Deep immersion with the Aeta community
  • Learn about Filipino cultures
  • Eat delicious and healthy meals (we are cooks!)
  • Yoga and Pilates
  • If it interest you, we can also offer you our Digital Marketing training for free (worth $3,000 USD). This is great for those who want to build a brand online or earn a living out of traveling
  • Social Media, Photography and Videography Class
  • Access to nature, outdoor activities and excursions with our family includeing pool & beach club access
  • Lasting friendships and connections with people who have traveled the world for 17 years (us!)
