Our children are growing up in a world where the ocean is threatened, so we’re giving them the knowledge and experiences they need to protect it.
Stewards of the Sea is a hands-on ocean education class aboard a sailboat, where children learn how human actions—like pollution and coastal development—affect our waters, and discover how they can protect and care for the sea.
This program is open to kids ages 7-12 years old.
If children don’t grow up learning about nature, and appreciating it, they will not understand it. If they don’t understand it, they won’t protect it. And if they don’t protect it, who will?

Pollution Detectives
Children explore how trash and plastics enter the bay, conduct a beach cleanup, and learn how pollution affects both people and marine environments.
Coastal Builders & Breakers
Hands-on sand-tray experiments show how human development reshapes coastlines, while waves and erosion remind us that nature always responds.
Invasive Species Story
Through role-play and games, kids discover how non-native species disrupt balance in the bay, learning why protecting local ecosystems matters.
Noise in the Ocean
Fun listening activities demonstrate how boats and industry create underwater noise, helping kids understand its impact on marine animals.
Hidden Life of the Bay
Using magnifying glasses or simple microscopes, children investigate plankton and tiny organisms, realizing that even “quiet” waters are full of life.
Stewards in Action
Reflection and creative journaling help kids imagine the ocean they want to see in the future, connecting their learning to real-world stewardship.
